China’s President Xi Jinping has arrived in Moscow on 22nd March for a three-day official visit to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping held a joint press conference in Moscow, during which Putin welcomed China’s peace proposal for Ukraine, a plan that the West has cautioned would enable Russia to “freeze” its territorial gains in Ukraine. Putin stated that Beijing’s peace plan aligns with Russia’s viewpoint and that Ukraine’s Western allies have thus far shown no interest in it. China’s 12-point peace proposal for resolving the conflict in Ukraine was released last month and emphasizes the importance of dialogue, respect for territorial sovereignty, and an end to economic sanctions. However, it does not suggest that Russia withdraw its forces.
